There’s some interesting movements going on in the social games and social payments space at the moment. I’ve always said that Facebook wouldn’t be the last of the social networks, and with Google Plus growing quickly, the value of the “social network market” will keep increasing for a while.
- I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that Zynga are planning to IPO valuing the company at around $15 billion, and I justified that valuation. I still do, especially considering my family is still buying more virtual products from Zynga.
- Today, the games publisher EA bought social gaming company PopCap for $750m. PopCap produce a number of social games including Bejeweled and Zuma. PopCap claim to have their game installed on 150 million devices (across PCs, mobiles and pads). This values each install at $5, yet their games cost less than £2 each from the App Store.
